Upgrade to macOS Big Sur

MacOS High Sierra (version 10.13) is the fourteenth major release of macOS, Apple Inc.' S desktop operating system for Macintosh computers. MacOS High Sierra was announced at the WWDC 2017 on June 5, 2017 and was released on September 25, 2017. ‎Download apps by Apple, including TestFlight, Beddit (for Model 3.5), Apple Developer, and many more. Testing conducted by Apple in October 2020 on production 1.4GHz quad-core Intel Core i5–based 13-inch MacBook Pro systems with 8GB of RAM, a 256GB SSD and prerelease macOS Big Sur. Systems tested with a WPA2 Wi-Fi network connection while running on battery power, with display brightness set to 12 clicks from the bottom or 75 per cent.

Make a backup

Before you upgrade, make a complete backup with Time Machine, or store your files in iCloud.

Free up space

If the installer needs more storage space to upgrade, you can free up space using tools that come with your Mac. Bootable disk utility mac.

Download macOS Big Sur

If you’re using macOS Mojave or later, choose Apple menu  > System Preferences, then click Software Update. If you’re using an earlier macOS, use the App Store instead.
